QUIRINO
AWARDS
[ Presentation ]
The Quirino Awards were born in 2018 out of the need to recognise talent in the Ibero-American animation industry, building ties and networks on both sides of the ocean. In 2027 they celebrate their tenth edition, established as the leading event for Ibero-American animation.
Since its first edition, the event has brought together the Latin American industry with those of Portugal, Andorra and Spain, building a true partnership to jointly develop the great market that is Ibero-America.
In addition to recognising the best Ibero-American animated works in ten categories, the Quirino Awards host the Co-Production and Business Forum, which at its last edition gathered more than 200 professionals from 25 countries in around 1,400 business meetings.
The awards are named after the creator of the first animated feature film in history: in 1917, Quirino Cristiani directed El Apóstol, an Argentine production that used 58,000 drawings on 35 mm film, as well as several scale models. The tenth edition also coincides with the 110th anniversary of that premiere.
Ten editions later, the Quirino Awards continue to pay tribute to Ibero-American talent and creativity.
[ Objectives ]
1.To value the Ibero-American animation talent and industry; generating links and networks between both sides of the ocean.
2.To build an Ibero-American animation market for the circulation of the audiovisual works.
3. To reward the animation in all its formats, feature films, series, short films, school short films, commissioned films and video game animation.
4. To generate a co-production and business forum, in parallel to the awards, to be able to co-produce, co-develop and work at the Ibero-American level.
