From May 9th to 22nd, the finalists for Best School Short Film and the finalists for Best Short Film of this Fifth Edition of the Quirino Awards will be available for viewing on the Retina Latina and Filmin platforms: “Bestia”, directed by Hugo Covarrubias and produced by Trebol 3 Producciones, co-production with Maleza Estudio (Chile); “Leopoldo From the Bar”, directed by Diego Porral and produced by Joaquín Garralda (Spain); “Tío”, directed by Juan Medina and produced by Outik Animation (Mexico); “Abril”, directed by Sofia Caponnetto & Eliana Fernández, Universidad Ort Uruguay (Uruguay); “Lágrimas de dragón”, directed by Íñigo Álvarez & Antonio García Tardón, U-Tad Centro Universitario de Tecnología y Arte Digital (Spain); and “Las moscas solo viven un día”, directed by Mauro Luis López, UPV (Spain).
*Due to exhibition rights issues, “Bestia” cannot be seen in Chile or Spain and “Leopoldo From the Bar” cannot be seen in Spain. “Bestia” is available in Chile on TVN and Movistar+ Spain has in its catalog both, “Bestia” and “Leopoldo From the Bar”.
*Retina Latina is a digital platform to watch Latin American cinema, public, free and legal access for citizens of Latin America and the Caribbean, with part of its collection open to everyone. The platform is composed of film entities from Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay under the coordination of the Directorate of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. Kenneth Ladekjær graduated from The Animation Workshop in Viborg (Denmark), where he co-directed his final year short film “The Reward”, which became a viral hit on the internet leading to a webseries. Since then he has worked as a storyboarder on some hit shows such as “Gumball” and “Ivandoe”, and has directed several commercials for Riot Games. He is currently the co-founder and co-owner of the Danish animation studio Sun Creature.
In this masterclass he will take us on a journey, as animation director and lead storyboarder, through the creative universe of the documentary “Flee”, winner of Best European Documentary and Best European Animated Feature Film at the European Film Awards (EFA). Kenneth Ladekjær is also a member of the jury of the 5th edition of the Quirino Awards.

MEETING OF CINEMATOGRAPHIC AUTHORITIES CAACI AND IBERMEDIA

The fifth edition of the Quirino Ibero-American Animation Awards will host among its activities the 41st Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America (CAACI) and the 20th Extraordinary Meeting of the Ibermedia Intergovernmental Council. With this meeting, the film authorities confirm their interest in promoting the production, distribution and circulation of animated works from the 23 countries in this region, in addition to Italy as guest country.
The meetings will be attended by film authorities from CAACI member countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela), as well as representatives from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), among other institutions.
