QUIRINO’S FUTURES LABORATORY

Thursday, April 16 at 17:15 UTC / GMT + 1. Hotel Mencey
*For accredited participants only.

A strategic initiative by the Quirino Awards in collaboration with the Ortega-Marañón Foundation.

The Quirino Futures Lab is a space for collective intelligence where professionals, institutions, and experts in Ibero-American animation work together to actively shape the future of the industry. It’s not just about anticipating what’s to come, but about designing strategies to bring the future we want to life.

Our central question: How is the Ibero-American animation space created?

Through sessions of exploration, debate, and collaborative work, the Laboratory identifies challenges and opportunities, brings together talent, resources, and initiatives from across the region, and generates concrete proposals that take shape as strategic roadmaps for the industry.

New session: new financing and distribution models

The animation sector is changing. Are we aware of the magnitude of this transformation? Are we prepared to navigate it?

This session focuses on three critical areas: investment, distribution, and IP generation.

The journey so far

Welcome and review of the past year’s activities: MONDIACULT 2025, the first edition of Quirino Lab, and the inaugural session of the Laboratorio de Futuros held outside Tenerife, which took place in São Paulo in March 2026.

Group work

Session led by Federico Buyolo, Cultural Director of the Ortega-Marañón Foundation

Coffee Break sponsored by Proexca

Panel discussion: community building and investment through digital assets

Sherry Gunther (HEEBOO / Claynosaurz)
Bobbie Page (Glitch)

How is the way animation is financed and distributed changing? What role can a community play in this process? Sherry Gunther and Bobbie Page share two concrete experiences: financing animation projects through NFTs and digital assets, and building a creative community that becomes an investor in new series. A dialogue on new models and what they may mean for Ibero-American animation.
